6 Steps Will Have You Climbing That Corporate Ladder Of Recognition In No Time

Once you’ve got yourself a job it is important to carry on working hard. Everyone wants a bit of recognition every now and again, although it’s not so easy in the corporate world of business. However, good recognition often leads towards promotion!

Here are 6 fantastic tips to help you get yourself recognised in the workplace!

1. Believe in yourself and be proud of your accomplishments.

Acknowledge what you do well and don’t be too hard on yourself for what you don’t do well. This will boost your confidence, and others will take notice. Self-respect will lead to respect from others.

2. Don’t be afraid of failure.

Failure is normal, and it’s a huge part of success. How will you learn from mistakes if you never make any in the first place? Each failure presents an opportunity to better yourself. As you learn to cope with mistakes, you also learn how to find solutions to those mistakes. Your skill at handling mistakes and criticism is a good indicator of your propensity for success.

3. When you have on-the-job success, inform your boss.

Don’t be afraid to bring attention to your own success at work. Your boss is busy, and she/he is likely managing several other employees. Many of your accomplishments could quietly sneak by him/her, so say something about them. This will allow you to register in your boss’ mind. Don’t let your achievements go unnoticed, but don’t overdo it either.

4. Be wary of boasting and oversharing.

As stated above, there’s nothing wrong with bringing attention to your accomplishments. But know where the line is between self-appreciation and flat-out bragging, and try not to cross it. People respect confidence, but often balk at conceit. The same goes for oversharing. People who are friendly and sociable garner respect, but those who get too personal can make for awkward office environments.

5. Don’t see yourself as a victim.

Nobody likes a whiner. Sure, you work hard and you’ve sacrificed a lot to get where you are, but also know that most everyone else has had to work just as hard as you, if not harder, to achieve their own personal goals. Accept that life is hard and you’ll face struggles–maybe even more than others–but you have to accept that and move on if you want to get what you deserve.

6. Have a positive image of yourself and be confident.

It can be hard not to get down on yourself sometimes. But the truth is that no matter how many mistakes you might make or how many failures you encounter, there are many more things that you’re doing right. You’re probably a good, hardworking person. Remember that. The path to improving your career begins with improving yourself and your self-image.
